The BIGGEST Air Show in The World 2017! Our Best Year Yet!

BlackHawk Paramotors USA just wrapped up another amazing adventure at the 2017 EAA Airventure Air Show in Oshkosh Wisconsin. As many of you know, this is THE largest event of its kind in the entire world. Over a period of 7 days, this airport is home to “the most active runway in the world!” Thousands upon thousands of every aircraft imaginable arrive at this event to dazzle and entertain. From sunrise to beyond sunset, the sky is filled with displays of acrobatics, informative demonstrations & programs, hands-on workshops, music concerts, and so much more! This is the ultimate “Aviation Celebration” and of course BlackHawk Paramotors had to be involved.

Our Team of Pilots, Dealers, and their families made their way across the country to camp out and help run “the busiest booth we’ve ever had.” THOUSANDS of people got the opportunity to see a Paramotor for the first time! The excitement was contagious and everyone at the BlackHawk booth had an absolute blast. By the end of the day, our voices were shot from talking to interested “future pilots,” and needless to say – it was worth every minute.

The sport of Powered Paragliding has become the fastest-growing form of aviation, and this year it really showed! The BlackHawk booth was constantly packed with spectators from all over the world – asking questions, and trying a Paramotor on their back. Each year, more and more people actually KNOW what a Powered Paraglider or Paramotoring is! It’s exciting to be a central part in this life-changing experience and to watch the efforts of many people, over many years, make this possible. People are realizing their dreams – one flight at a time, and BlackHawk will always be here to help make those dreams a reality!

Paramotor Documentary Short From BlackHawk!

They’ve been called “the dirtbikes of the sky… human drones… or flying cars… Upon seeing one, spectators will stop dead in their tracks – staring up at the sky and often exclaiming “What in the world is that and where can I get one!” We call them Paramotors or Powered Paragliders. Epic Family Paragliding Day in Pacifica California!

At BlackHawk Paramotors, we know how to do “FUN!” In this Paragliding adventure video, some of our Team Pilots took their families to Pacifica California – a mecca for Paragliding on the West Coast. At the end of the day, one of the kids actually said “Hey dad… My face is soar from smiling today.” That just about sums up what we strive to do at BlackHawk!

One of the many benefits of getting into POWERED Paragliding is having the option to also go flying WITHOUT the “Powered” part… Some high-quality gliders like the Velocity Elektra were specifically designed to be flown with or without the motor. This opens up a whole new world of possibilities when it comes to personal flight. Many Pilots who can’t afford to get their motors yet will get into non-motored flight like “Paragliding.” This is a great way to build up skills, and for many, it’s the fastest way to get wings. The only things required for Paragliding Pilots are the glider, a harness, a helmet, and a sense of adventure!

Not everyone has a nice ridge like in Pacifica to get into Paragliding. Even though Paragliding is an absolute blast, it has its limitations… Powered Paragliding on the other hand is limitless. The main advantage of having a motor is not having to rely on the wind to be airborne. Powered Paragliding Pilots can fly in zero wind anytime they like! Sometimes it’s just easier to takeoff from your backyard instead of driving to the closest coastal ridge!

A Little Imagination Goes a Long Way in Powered Paragliding…

Most of our epic “Adventure Flights” around the world have been rather spontaneous. Some adventures require some extensive planning for sure, but they all start out with just one great idea and a little imagination. A perfect example of this happened last week at the BlackHawk Ranch in California… For those of you who have visited our Headquarters, you know that when we say “Ranch,” we mean it! In addition to running the busiest Paramotor operation in the United States, Mike Robinson of BlackHawk tends to A LOT of cattle and about 10 horses.

Several of the cattle managed to discover an opening in the old ranch fences and decided to wander on to “greener pastures!” Mike originally loaded up a BlackHawk Ranch ATV with fencing supplies and set off to fix the fence – hoping that he would run into the cows along the way. The fence was easily fixed in no time, however, the cattle were nowhere in sight… Heidi Lee, BlackHawk’s Sales Director suggested to Mike that he jump in the Tandem Quad Paramotor and scout for the cows via a bird’s eye view. In less than 10 minutes of flying, the missing herd was located. Within the hour, they were all safely returned to their holding pasture. This is just one example of the endless possibilities at the fingertips of a Powered Paragliding Pilot! Many farmers use Paramotors to keep an eye on their crops, hunters use them to locate game, fisherman can access incredible spots that no one else can, and so much more.

Paramotor Pre Flight Inspection Video!

Conducting a thorough pre-flight inspection is one of the most IMPORTANT things a Pilot can do. Unfortunately, this is one of the most OVERLOOKED procedures… Many Pilots think “I just flew yesterday and the Paramotor was fine, so I’ll just skip the pre-flight inspection today.” This is a major NO-NO! Conducting a thorough pre-flight before every single flight is an absolute must. It only takes a few minutes and can prevent problems long before they start.

Our most emphasized concern here at BlackHawk is Pilot safety. That’s the bottom line. Every decision we make and product we produce has safety in mind first. Conducting a proper pre-flight inspection of your equipment is all about personal safety. If you notice a loose bolt, a small crack, or anything out of the ordinary, you will be able to prevent a possible safety hazard long before it becomes one.

In addition to the obvious safety concerns, pre-flight inspections also help increase the longevity of your motor! Noticing a possible leak or issue before you fly can prevent your motor from incurring additional damage while in flight. We want to make sure all pilots can maximize their flight time and overall flying experience through continuing education. We hope this quick video helps!
